Attractions in Key West

Located at 322 Duval Street

This amazing little house was built in 1835 and has survived not only the ravages of time but also countless tropical storms and hurricanes. Key West citizens have lovingly nicknamed it the oldest house in Key West, and housed the Wrecker's Museum inside its walls. The house was inhabited by the family of Captain Watlington for 130 years, and in 1974 was given to the State of Florida. Visitors come here to see photos and memorabilia from the wrecking era of Key West...or as some say, the salvaging era, to put a nicer spin in the industry name. The shipwreck display is good, showing the locatin of wrecks on the reef outside Key West. It's open every day from 10am to 4pm, and you can take a self-guided tour. There is an admission fee.
