Attractions in Key West
Located at Mallory Square
Some of Key West's most famous historical figures are represented right here in Mallory Square, on the original shoreline of Key West. These influential citizens of Key West have changed the city a great deal in their lifetimes, in the areas of construction, the arts, maritime activities, and general traditional folklore of the area. Key West has built an homage to these famous people, and it's there for all to see, free of charge right in the middle of it all on Mallory Square. Here you'll find sculpture and brass likenesses of Ernest Hemingway, Harry Truman, who loved Key West, Henry Flagler, who built his famous railroad out across the Florida Keys to Key West, Sister Louise Gabriel, who is said to protect Key West from hurricanes. Read the stories, too, about each influential person, including the wreckers Asa Tift and Captain John Geiger and construction moguls Charles Toppino & Sons, who practically built the lower Keys. The walkways are made of bricks purchased and inscribed by families and friends in memory of their loved ones who have departed.
It's open every day from sunup to sundown, and it's free.
