Located in Truman Annex at the end of Southard Street
This is an old brick civil war-era fort that sits on the beach keeping watch over some of the clearest water in Key West. Snorkelers will love this spot for its clear and deep water, which makes for great fish-spotting. There is a beach here, but it is a bit rocky. That doesn't stop people from coming here to sunbathe, however. The water is calm here, becuase of limestone breakwater islands just off shore from the fort. The picnic area is shady with tall pine trees in case you need to get out of the sun for a moment. This beach is open from 8am to sunset. It is not free.
