The Dolphin Connection lets you get in the water with dolphins and interact with them, swim with them, and just generally get to know them. The Dolphin Discovery Program will first sit you down in a classroom for an orientation on dolphin etiquette. Then you'll go poolside and the instructor will familiarize you with the dolphin body parts so you know what you're dealing with once you get in the water with them. All the while, you'll be learning about Florida Keys ecology and the marine environment of the dolphins. After your lessons, you can get in the water with them, on a submerged platform, and then into deeper water. You can touch the dolphins, and they will play and splash around you, as you discover some of the most beloved and famous creatures in the Florida Keys.

For those who can't or who don't want to get in the water with the dolphins, there is the Dockside Dolphins program. This program is about 30 minutes (the Discover program is 45 minutes), but participants go behind the scenes to learn how the dolpins are trained. You get to feed and pet the dolphins, without getting in the water.

Then there is the Dolphin Detectives program for children, where they get to become dolphin trainers. They learn hand signals and get to feed the dolphins.

Dolphin Discovery programs are held four times daily, and Dockside Dolphins & Dolphin Detectives are held just once a day. Guests at Hawk's Cay Resort get a small discount off the the admission price. Book in advance...it's required.
