This is an upscale department store for anglers, who will find everything they need for fishing here. Even people who have no interest in fishing will love the World Wide Sportsman, because it is beautiful and just simply a delightful place to be. Housed in what looks like an old southern plantaion with a deep wide porch complete with rocking chairs and a killer view of the docks and Florida Bay, this store has an alluring charm that makes you want to return to its doors as soon as possible. Perhaps it's the attention to detail in the construction and decor, such as art-quality brass mermaid door handles on the women's restroom. Perhaps it's the brass and glass elevator up to the second level. Perhaps it's the gargantuan-sized aquarium on the first floor, which is reason enough to visit the World Wide Sportsman. There are 29,000 square feet of fishing gear, men's and women's clothing, footwear, gifts, and an art gallery. There really is something for everyone. They carry tackle from Daiwa, Shimano, Sage, Penn, Orvis, just to name a few. There's a rod & reel repair area in there, too. Clothing lines include Columbia, Bimini Bay, Tommy Bahama, Sportif, ExOfficio, Woolrich, and Tarponwear. Look for more ladies' and children's clothes on the upper level. There's a replica of Pilar, Ernest Hemingway's famous boat. You can walk up into the beautiful mahogany cabin, stand on deck, or admire it from the second level of the store. You just have to see this place, and it's right on US Highway 1, hard to miss and plenty of parking.

Step outside and there's a full-service marina with 40-50 slips. Charter captains run their fishing trips out of here, and there's bait for sale, too. The Islamorada Fish Company is right there, too, and serves excellent lunch and dinner, right on the docks. This is truly a dream spot for salt-water anglers and anyone travelling with them.
